Chocolate has always stood for enjoyment; and at certain times of the year it is usually connected with some very particular occasions:

Sustainability

Sustainable development is a key element in our company philosophy. We utilise strict guidelines with regards to the traceability of the cocoa beans that we use in our production processes. With the Tonkeys brand, the cocoa farmers get a fair price for their harvest, and thus earn the Fair Trade label This allows the farmers to invest in more efficient production as well as better health care and education for their children.

In addition, we strive to achieve a safe and healthy workplace for our colleagues and offer them an exciting and fun organisation in which to work. In our company, the following values are central to us: Tradition, Pleasure, Quality, Innovation and Respect.

Also, when it comes to the environment, we take initiatives and follow guidelines that minimise the impact of our production and packaging on the environment as much as possible. In addition to the use of sustainable raw materials, our ethical responsibilities are also reflected in our policy towards our own human resources. Italo Suisse strives to conduct an open and sustainable cooperation with its employees. This occurs when you have respect for competencies, a work/life balance, sports, culture and diversity.

These ethics are reflected by both the commercial services and HR department depending upon one another very closely here. While commercial services offer its clients Fair Trade products (under the brand name Tonkeys Fair Trade), HR implements ethical practices on the work floor.

Our belief in Fairtrade extends to offering as many FT options as possible in our snack and drink machines. Our clients are offered a cup of Fair Trade coffee. On Secretary's Day, all administrative staff are given a basket with Fair Trade products. At the moment, there are conversations with our internal advisor for working conditions on outfitting workers on the shop floor with Fair Trade clothing. Sustainability and respect for human values are thus one of the strategic priorities of Italo Suisse.
